Fitting Guide

There are many different methods to fitting your trigger wheel, which you choose will depend on what tools and skills you have available as much as the engine you are fitting it to. Some of our customers have been kind enough to send us pictures of their installations, you can find these in our customer gallery.  We would appreciate your contributions to the gallery by email, particularly if your vehicle/engine is not currently featured.

Accuracy matters

Irrespective of how you fit your wheel it is essential that you minimise the run-out by ensuring that the wheel is properly centered. Most sensors need to be mounted between 0.5 and 1.5mm away from the teeth, although depending on the sensor, ECU and quality of shielding on the cabling you may find that they work further away. Run-out of less than 0.25mm is ideal. If your runout is any larger than this you can shave the teeth down on a lathe but be careful not to remove any more material than you have to as excessive removal will make it harder for the sensor to "see" the teeth.
